But there's a lot of Hal Jordan and John Stewart to see.

"So today we're talking the Lanterns trailer and immediately from seeing this trailer, which I'm just going to let play in the background, you can probably tell why they're not calling it the Green Lanterns show because it's not very green.
As we sort of expected, it's going to be, or as has been told to us by the showrunners, by people who worked on the show, by people who've seen the show, by people who've seen the script, this show is going to be a lot more based on the Lantern characters themselves as people, I guess more so than they are superheroes."
"While we are seeing a car drive off a cliff at the point of this, it still shows very little in terms of superpowers, in terms of Green Lantern creations, with the ring even less so than we saw in Superman or even the trailers for Superman with Guy Gardner's powers.
It's very low key, it's very True Detective style sort of cop crime drama with Hal Jordan played by Kyle Chandler and Jon Stewart played by Anne-Pierre, sort of working together but also against each other in a lot of ways."
"There's this sense that Jordan, aka Chandler, is clinging on to his Green Lantern powers even though he necessarily might not be the best person for the job and Stewart believes he's the best person for the job and so they're sort of clashing, it seems like they're clashing over there just being one ring rather than there being two Green Lanterns of Earth, obviously three if we count Guy Gardner in there, but it seems like Guy Gardner might not even be a known entity at this point in the story because later on in the trailer Chandler's asked by Pierre about sort of other Green Lanterns and he said they're all aliens, one of them's a squirrel, there's no other humans apart from him, which is obviously a lie, so we'll have to see how things end up there."
"Things could get more supernatural, could get more superpower-y, we do see a lantern and someone flying and the rings multiple times, but it's certainly an interesting take.
There's a bit of a divide in the YouTube comments section on the trailer at the current time, whether this is a good direction for it to go in or not."
"It feels, if I can get personal about how it feels for a minute, not like I'm going to get personal as in I have a very particular story to tell, but as in just to go from an object to a subject, on this news piece is that I personally think it seems interesting but it seems like it's something that should have come out about 10 years ago when people were still trying to do sort of like edgier, darker and gritty superhero stories, whereas what Superman did, which a lot of people liked, was it brought a lot of colour, a lot of hope, a lot of vibrancy back into the superhero story that we see and that seems to have been quite a defining factor of the DCU thus far, even if you look back at something like Creature Commandos, it was quite dark as a series and quite violent, but it had this sense of colour and this sense of like wackiness to it that was very comic book, it was very out there."
"It'll be interesting to see whether Lanterns clashes with that in a way that makes it more interesting to see the films like Superman Man of Tomorrow, Supergirl and all the other films and Clayface when that comes out this year, but it'll be certainly interesting to see if it clashes with that in a bad way as well because there's a lot of ways that this could go."
"It's coming out in August, we've got Supergirl before then obviously, which I don't think is going to set up the Lanterns storyline, but yeah, it could also be that this teaser is sort of baiting us in a bit and we'll have maybe just the first couple of episodes encompass this grittier focus and then we do go a lot more cosmic later down the line, but yeah, considering that the Green Lanterns are space cops in the DC Universe, not a lot of space in this trailer."
"Let me know what you think of it if you've seen it yet, we'll be watching Lanterns in August and I'll see you tomorrow for more GR2 news, goodbye!"
