Destiny 2 might be going free-to-play

A leaked report indicates that Bungie is changing their strategy along with the upcoming Shadowkeep DLC.

A Destiny 2 stream is coming at 18:00 BST (19:00 CEST) to show us the "next chapter of Destiny 2", and according to an article by Engadget this may well be announcing that the game is going free-to-play.

The URL link shows that the article has been pulled, but Reddit user NintendoTim made sure to screenshot the piece before it was removed, which claims that the core game will go free-to-play as Destiny 2: New Light when the next expansion - Shadowkeep - lands on September 17.

The approach now will be "expansion-level, standalone content", according to the report, which also compounds the rumour that cross saving is on the way, including PC, Xbox One, and Google's Stadia platform. What's more is that Destiny 2 is reportedly releasing on Steam as well, with players able to migrate their progress for no added cost, and platform-exclusive content is also being scrapped.

Would you jump into Destiny 2 if it goes free-to-play?
