Hideo Kojima has revived his Koji10 podcast after a year away, sharing new story, casting and production details about Physint, his next-generation action-espionage game and spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. Kojima said the plot is ready and filming is expected to begin next year, according to IGN’s report on the episode.

Kojima described Physint as a project marking his 40th anniversary as a game developer. He wants it to recall the roots of Metal Gear Solid while offering a different kind of spy action and plenty of new ideas. He also said he pitched all the actors himself, around 70% of whom are apparently fans of his work, and that many character names have been decided.

Bill Skarsgard, Charlie Fraser and Minami Hamabe have already been scanned, though filming has not yet begun. Kojima’s other Microsoft project, OD, is expected to arrive before Physint; he previously estimated that Physint was five to six years away. The project’s reported move from Sony to Microsoft is part of its development backdrop, not the focus of this latest update.

IGN said its report was based on a summary of the 79-minute, English-subtitled podcast posted on YouTube by X user Genki_JPN, rather than a supplied transcript. Kojima said he makes every game as if it could be his last, and framed Physint as a return to Metal Gear’s roots without simply repeating them. The franchise itself is also returning through Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
