A patch for the console versions of Just Cause 3 arrived last friday, and while the patch notes mentioned several performance improvements and crash fixes, it seems that patch has had the opposite effect on PS4.

At least that's the impression you'll get trawling through the NeoGAF forums, where several users indicate that PS4 game runs at a worse framerate and with more slowdowns since the patch.

"Just played with the patch on PS4 and the performance seems WORSE. Constant stuttering and drops, plus the shadows across the frame were moving at something like three times the normal speed of the day cycle so there is this constant flicker when standing still," writes one user.

Adds another user, "I can confirm PS4 performance are worse. I never complain about frame rate in JC3, but now is unplayable!"

A third user chimes in with "it's definitely worse. I could tell right away from the moment the logging in screen appeared. Took longer to log in and load up, almost back to the day one load times (which were abominable). [...] So I decide to use the wingsuit. Almost immediately, I notice frame drops. Really obvious frame drops."

A patch for the PC version is supposed to arrive this week. The patch notes for the console versions are below.

"Reduced initial loading time and in-game loading screens by 20-50%
Fixed several memory leaks resulting in crashes
Reduced a number of random crashes
Improved streaming of game world
Some performance optimizations related to hitches and stuttering
Implemented DLC system in preparation of the Air, Land and Sea packages"
