Space Invaders is one of the oldest video game properties around, and while a film has been discussed for years, Greg Russo has now signed on to write the project, as reported by Deadline.
New Line is moving the project along after Warner Bros. bought the rights to the game, with Akiva Goldsman of Weed Road Pictures helping produce alongside Safehouse Pictures partners Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold.
This is far from Russo's first venture into game adaptations, as he's adapting Saints Row into the film world, and will be bringing Mortal Kombat to life once more as well. He even revealed that this film will have fatalities on the big screen, so he clearly cares about subject matter.
