In recent days, there have been widespread rumours that a third Ori adventure is in the works, with the most recent one having been released in 2020 (Ori and the Will of the Wisps). According to the source, it is reportedly being developed by Saber Interactive rather than by the studio that created the franchise, Moon Studios, and the announcement is expected this week in conjunction with Gamescom.
But... it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Now, a very well-informed source, namely the Ori series' designer and director, Thomas Mahler, reveals that he "can confirm that the Ori 3 rumors are nonsense." In short, this doesn't seem to be something to get your hopes up about. Mahler did, however, end his message on a slightly more positive note, writing:
"That said, I had Gareth over for dinner a while ago since he was recording the No Rest for the Wicked Soundtrack in Vienna (you folks will LOVE it!) and even he asked me if we'd be ready to do another one.
"'It's time,' he said!"
In short, hope lives on, but don't count on a third Ori game in the next couple of years.
