Screenwriter Greg Russo is one of the people helping to bring Mortal Kombat back into the world of film, alongside producer James Wan and others, and now he's revealed that the signature violence of the series won't be toned down for the film reboot.

"Since it's already been stated by other members of the team, I'm gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I'm not gonna say which ones) You'll just have to wait for the movie & see," he said on Twitter.

Earlier this week we reported that Joe Taslim (The Raid) would be playing Sub-Zero in the film, so things are certainly taking shape for this film project, which will probably be a lot different than the films from the '90s.

Are you glad to hear this from Russo?
