Dissidia Final Fantasy NT's producer Ichiro Hazama recently visited Square Enix's office in London to talk about the fighting game, and during our conversation he told us (via translator) the motive behind making this game 3v3.
"Okay so the reason we did it is because you think of the Final Fantasy series and the battles in Final Fantasy, it's very much you team up with a party of characters to take down a really strong, powerful enemies, and so we felt that in order to get it to feel that much more like Final Fantasy and be more reminiscent of the series, having that idea of you have party vs party battles would make it feel much more like that than you would a one-on-one kind of system," he explained.
We also asked about the biggest lessons Hazama had learned from previous games, to which he said: "I think one point that we learned from the previous Dissidia games that actually went really well and we thought was a really big success was how the characters, the individual characters, were not just created because of the way we wanted them to be from a design perspective, creating characters for the sake of it, they really were designed to represent and reflect how they were in their original Final Fantasy games and the feeling of how they played and the systems they used as they fought, so for the latest Dissidia game as well we returned to that, we very much kept that in mind, and rather than just make them feel they should be from a design perspective, they really are designed to keep that essence of who they are as characters, and I think that's something people will really respond to when they see it in-game."
Do you like the shift to 3v3 this time around for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT?
