Igarashi finds success on Kickstarter

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Nights is funded within hours of asking.

Naturally we'll keep an eye on this campaign and let you know when there's more information about further stretch goals and so on.

It has been suspected for a while that former Konami-veteran and Castlevania producer Koji "IGA" Igarashi would turn to Kickstarter to fund his first independent project. And he did.

Unsurprisingly Igarashi looks to his perhaps most beloved creation Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for guidance as he pitched Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (see below):

The well crafted campaign that has enlisted the help of veteran Kickstarter crews like 2 Player Productions (pitch video) and Fangamer (merchandise, campaign management) quickly met its original funding goal of $500,000 and has passed the $1.2 million mark as of now. It's not far from reaching the last stretch goal listed (2 player co-op).

In the pitch video Igarashi points out that the project has other backers and the campaign is there to show these backers there is interest in the game. So don't expect a game with a budget of half a million dolllars as it is more ambitious.

To help him Igarashi has enlisted longtime Castlevania composer Michiru Yamane and veteran studio Inti Creates for development. The game is in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and a Kickstarter first is that you can pledge and get physical discs as a reward even on console. David Hayter (Solid Snake) has also been confirmed as a voice actor.
