Javier Tebas wants Infantino gone, but not in place of Nasser al-Khelaïfi, "he would be a bad FIFA president"

LaLiga President Javier Tebas has been one of many critical voices against FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and has been saying he should resign even before the failed plan to privatise part of World Cup, that only lasted a few days before it was panned by UEFA and many football associations, with FIFA later admitting that "mistakes were made".

Currently, there are no other candidates expected to run for FIFA Presidency in March 2027, but the name that was tossed around the most was that of Paris Saint-Germain president, also chairman of the Qatar Sports Investments and beIN Media Group Nasser al-Khelaïfi, a role that the Qatari has repeatedly denied being interested in. However, it appears he would be one of the names that would receive more support if he were to run against Infantino.

But not from Tebas. Speaking with RMC Sport, Tebas said that Nasser "would be a bad FIFA president".

Tebas disagrees with Khelaifi's vision of football. "He doesn't work within the European football model I aspire to", said the Spaniard. "Furthermore, he is president of the European Club Association (EFC), and there are 800 clubs in this association, and nobody voices their opinion except for a tiny minority, of which he is a part. He therefore envisions an elitist model that I do not share."
