Just one month ago, Koji Igarashi, better known as IGA, announced that his Kickstarter game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Knight had been delayed to 2018. The Japanese creator recognises that his team (plus that of Inti Creates) is not enough to make the game he envisioned after leaving Konami. And now we know that the partner he was looking for is publisher 505 Games.
The Italian company has announced a publishing partnership with ArtPlay Inc. for the exclusive worldwide publishing rights to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. IGA, equipped with his tradicional whip, explains in this video what he expects from his new partner. The second half has some direct feed and off-screen gameplay.
The crowdfunding campaign of Bloodstained was so successful that five platforms make the cut: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and Vita. But 2018 is too far away and IGA is not sure that all of the will see get the game. "As timelines move on, certain pieces of hardware become irrelevant. Sometimes new pieces of hardware come out that make you think about what is the right strategy. And as a creator, usually you want to make stuff for the new hardware. That's the reality", told to IGN.
He acknowledges that "any sort of change that we do or are considering that goes outside the scope of the promises we've made must be done with lots of explanation, must be done with lots of care, and must be done with lots of back and forth" with backers. But he has a plan. With Wii U and NX in mind, Iga expects to be supported again, so "we'll be able to do things that are maybe more interesting".
It sounds like both the Wii U and PS Vita version could be in danger...
