The Payday live-action series has taken a step forward, and looks to be officially going ahead as it now has a big celebrity name attached to it. Back in March, we reported that Starbreeze Entertainment, Payday's developer, was looking to create a live-action series based on the games with Vice Studios, the production company behind Gangs of London. Now, 50 Cent has added his G-Unit Film & Television banner to the project.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will therefore be an executive producer on the show. "Teaming up with Vice Studios and bringing the world of Payday to the screen gives us the chance to build something big, a high-energy franchise that pushes the heist genre forward," he told Variety.

Jackson is best known for his music career, but he is pretty established in TV, too, having executive produced the Power franchise for Starz, as well as having a role in the original series as Kanan Stark. It's unknown whether 50 Cent will appear as an actor in the Payday series. He's already set a precedent of appearing in live-action video game adaptations, as he's in the Street Fighter movie as Balrog.

No writer or streamer has been attached to the Payday live-action series yet, so there's still a way to go until we see it on our screens, but steps are being made.
