We sat down with producer Nadezhda Golubenko at Gamescom to learn more about the current state of Crytek's free-to-play shooter Warface.

Golubenko explained that while the is already out and very successful in certain parts of the world, it's currently in closed beta for Europe and North America.

"Our current plan is to check out, or test our publishing capacities and abilities. Cause this is the first time Crytek will be publishing a game on their own."

Warface is not your typical free-to-play shooter as it offers a co-operative mode where you team up with other players to combat computer controlled enemies. There's also PvP, but co-op is what really sets it apart.

"We wanted our game to be co-operative. So we kind of encourage players to interact with eachother, to socialise in the teams. For example, in PvE or co-op mode, players will be able to play in a team of 5 people, while in the versus mode, which is PvP, players would be combined in teams of maximum 8 people against 8 people. Beside that we actually do have a lot of in-game co-operative moves for the players."

This interview was conducted before it was announced that Warface will be released on Xbox 360 next year.
