Warner Bros. have decided to cut the number of staff by an undisclosed figure at Turbine Inc in Boston. The studio that is best known for running Dungeons & Dragons Online and The Lords of the Rings Online, had around 500 employees at the time of these lay offs.

"As part of the continual review of our business operations and fluctuating market conditions, we have had to make reductions in our Turbine workforce. The group continues to remain an integral part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment."

It's unknown whether the lay offs had to do with DDO or LOTRO getting smaller teams or if potentially an upcoming project got cancelled.

The Boston development scene has been hit hard with lay offs recently, with Zynga closing down their Boston studio a couple of days ago, and Harmonix laying off "less than 10" this week.
