Runic's Travis Baldtree has been talking up his company's upcoming XBLA Torchlight after Microsoft announced it'd be part of the digital domain's House Party promotion next month.

As reported by VG247, Baldtree has popped up on Runic's Game Forums to talk about the game, and confirm that its a Xbox 360 exclusive.

"No PS3 plans to speak of. Microsoft is acting as the publisher on this one. And given how much work it was to get one console game done, I'm a little relieved we didn't attempt both platforms at once anyway."

As for customising the PC action RPG for the console and joypad market, Travis broke down the changes.

"Control is direct - no virtual cursors ever. Combat is a little different - you move forward slightly with melee attacks and all the attack animations are redone to support this," he explained. "Ranged combat is easier, kiting and dodging are significantly more viable with a controller."

He also said that while everything from the original version was present, the interface was completely overhauled. "We iterated on the UI a ridiculous amount....most of us actually find it easier to use a variety of skills on the console vs. PC, oddly enough."

Badltree also noted that the conversion process to console taught the developer some new tricks. "We found all sorts of nice optimizations as we crammed it onto the 360 that we now get to fold back into Torchlight 2."
