THQ Nordic, publishers of Darksiders and recent releases like Elex and BattleChasers: Nightwar, has acquired 100% of the shares in Experiment 101, the development studio that's working on the THQ Nordic published open-world action-RPG BioMutant (PC, PS4, Xbox One). Previous owners Stefan Ljungqvist and Goodbye Kansas have been paid just under $9 million (USD), according to Swedish financial paper Dagens Industri (article in Swedish). Goodbye Kansas is a company that mainly focuses on visual effects for movies as well as advertisement and trailers for video games (Fatshark and DICE are among their customers), but they also have a strategy to invest in small independent studios (such as Experiment 101). Experiment 101 currently employs 17 people.
Experiment 101 becomes the fifth studio owned by THQ Nordic as the publisher looks to build on a strong 2017 with an even stronger 2018.
Here's an interview we did with Experiment 101 founder Stefan Ljungqvist around the time of the announcement of BioMutant.
