Splatoon Special Edition with Amiibo stock stolen from truck

The very limited edition is now even harder to find in the UK.

While Splatoon is on sale pretty much everywhere starting today and tomorrow (and even a couple of days ago in places), if you live in the UK you'll have a hard time trying to get the Special Edition of the game, even if you pre-ordered it.

In a story which seems taken from Grand Theft Auto V, Battlefield: Hardline or Payday 2, a lorry carrying a significant stock of the Wii U game has been robbed.

According to Eurogamer, the truck was driving from Nintendo UK warehouse to the GAME UK warehouse, so it's the popular high street retailer that's affected by the events. Apparently, "copies of the rarer, more expensive Splatoon Special Edition - which contains the game's rare Squid Amiibo - made up much of the delivery".

Now, same as happens with many Amiibo figurines and speculative purchasers, these stolen copies will probably end up in second-hand channels such as eBay, but with an inflated price tag.

GAME is now apologizing to customers who pre-ordered this Edition, as reflected in the attached letter via Amiibo Alerts. Only solution offered so far is shipping the standard edition of the game instead, Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy Amiibo, and a discount.
