Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on track to make $2 billion at the box office, now the 12th highest-grossing film ever

It is perhaps fair to say Spider-Man: Brand New Day has outperformed the expectations of many. At a time where Marvel Studios' movies tend to pull in a lower box office revenue figure than prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and before the Infinity Saga came to a close, this film has so far been a huge success, and it hasn't even been in cinemas for two whole weeks yet.

Over its second weekend, the live-action film clocked in around half a billion dollars over Friday-Sunday, which is somewhat equal to around half of its opening weekend box office tally of around $920 million. This all means, when including the hundreds of millions it drew in over the weekdays, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now notched up $1.665 billion in cinemas, making it the 12th highest-grossing movie of all-time, according to Box Office Mojo.

The next records for the movie to overcome will be breaking into the top ten, which should be doable as the current tenth biggest film ever is Inside Out 2 at $1.698 billion. After this, it will be setting its sights on being the most successful Spider-Man film ever, beating Spider-Man: No Way Home's $1.921 billion. Then the final question will be whether it can break into the insanely illustrious $2 billion club, a feat which would make it only the eighth film to ever do so, and a task that could put it right on the coattails of Avengers: Infinity War's $2.052 billion. If it overcame that feat, Brand New Day would be the second biggest Marvel movie ever behind Avengers: Endgame and its very likely unreachable $2.799 billion.
