Given the phenomenal success of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft it's not surprising to see a growing number of CCGs hitting the market, but one that certainly stands out from the crowd is Prismata.
The game boasts a fusion of CCG elements with real-time strategy sensibilities and turn-based mechanics, along with a touch of tabletop gaming. It's being developed by Lunarch Studios (interestingly, the studio was founded by Elyot Grant and Will Ma, who left their studies at MIT to develop the game full-time), and the game itself has been in development since 2010.
The description reads: "Prismata is an easy-to-learn, fast-paced hybrid strategy game that borrows familiar elements from real-time strategy games, collectible card games, and tabletop strategy games, combining them in a radical new way. Think "turn-based StarCraft", but without a map. Or, think of Hearthstone with workers and build orders instead of decks."
It's currently on Kickstarter and it's after $140k CAD, and it's more than halfway to that goal. They're approaching the crowd for investment because they want to avoid implementing free-to-play mechanics, and because they don't see the game working with a more traditional publisher-developer relationship.
