Earlier today Codemasters put out a new trailer which shows off the career mode coming to F1 2018 later this year, and much like the most recent entries in the series there's going to be plenty going on off the track to complement the racing that happens on it.
The dev diary (which is the first of four) details the efforts being made to make your experience as a driver more immersive, and the word on the street is that the media will be an important part of that. How players interact with the public will define strengths and weaknesses within the team, the price and reliability of the equipment you can buy (which seems odd), and whether or not you'll get approached by other teams.
It certainly sounds more nuanced than last year's iteration, but we also liked the idea that you can challenge a specific rival to be your personal nemesis to rival you for the championship.
"The media are going to play a huge part in the player's career," game director Lee Mather wrote. "It's super important for a driver to not just be skilled on track. It's all about being the complete package. The player is going to need to consider how their answers impact the morale of their team and also how other teams in the paddock perceive them."
F1 2018 is launching on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 24.
