After Apple boasted the fact that over one billion people had downloaded games on their iOS devices as well as the fact that there are over 300,000 games present on the Apple Store, the company decided to reveal something new called Apple Arcade.
By paying a currently unknown price, gamers will be granted access to a large library of games, with over a hundred being available at launch, all of which will be playable offline. Of course, in order to lure more people over to the Apple subscription service, Apple promised that a number of exclusive games would be coming to the platform, specifically mentioning that Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and SimCity creator Will Wright were working on some of the aforementioned exclusives that will be releasing with the service. They'll even be helping with the development costs for some of these games.
The tech giant promised that the service will be ad-free as well, so it will be interesting to see what the price tag will be for the service and whether developers are actually tempted by it, especially considering that Google Stadia has just been revealed as well.
As for the platforms, you'll be able to play these on your Mac and Apple TV devices as well as iPads and phones. The service will launch this autumn, and for more on Apple Arcade make sure to check out the website.
