Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime has revealed when talking to VG247 that microtransactions may be a big deal in World of Warcraft moving ahead. The first example of this are the new pets you can buy.
"We expect digital sales to increase in the future, and plan to take advantage of it," Morhaime responds.
It should be noted that Blizzard does not want to bring in microtransactions that change the balance of the game and that it will merely be available as an extra for those willing to part with money on top of the monthly fee.
