Massive Modern Warfare 2 launch

The reports on the first 24 hours of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sales are trickling in and they are extremely impressive. Internal Activision estimates point to the game selling 4.7 million copies and generating $310 million in sales in its first 24 hours and that's just counting North America and the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile Charttrack has the first day of British sales at 1.23 million, breaking the previous day one record set by Grand Theft Auto IV by a wide margin (690000). Of course, these are early estimates and not definite numbers. But this is an indication that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may surpass previous entries in the franchise and perhaps even become one of the biggest selling games this generation behind the likes of Wii Sports and Wii Fit.
