Nintendo have updated Mario Kart 7 with a patch that eliminates short cuts that are widely considered as cheats on Wuhu Island Loop, Wuhu Mountain Loop, and GBA Bowser Castle 1, in the online mode of the game. If you don't patch your game you will not be able to compete online.
