Mario is still big in Japan

According to numbers from Famitsu New Super Mario Bros. Wii became the fastest selling Wii title to date registering 936,734 units in its first week. This can be compared to the previous best of Super Smash Bros. Brawl with 816,198 units. Reports also claim the title did 422,000 units in its first day on sale in Japan. New Super Mario Bros. Wii has seen similar success in Europe and is expected to be fighting for second place behind the behemoth that is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the US NPD statistics for November, released later this week.
