So far, crossplay for Microsoft has mostly been between Windows 10 and Xbox One, but we know there have been talks with Valve about including Steam as well. Speaking of Steam, Killer Instinct is about to launch on the platform shortly, and in a post on Ultra Combo Iron Galaxy Studios explains that it will in fact have cross platform, meaning you can play against people using Steam, Windows 10, or Xbox One when delivering rough combos with Chief Thunder, explosive punches with the Battletoad Rash, or just making people uncomfortable with the very disturbing Hisako.

"Yes, this is your confirmation that Killer Instinct players on Xbox One or Windows 10 will be able to play cross-network with players on Steam, as well, and we're super excited to be able to bring that feature to you when KI launches on Steam in the coming weeks," the post explains.

Iron Galaxy also explains that this is a test at the same time, and for shorter periods, the crossplay might be turned off, saying: "There is one small caveat, though. We will be testing this feature, making sure all the kinks are worked out (as best as we can) in a live environment. What that means for you is that you will see the option for cross play in your menus, but then there will be times where that menu item is turned off, and seemingly missing. Never fear, that is simply us working on things in the background, and your experience will not be affected as we do our work."

Expect a much bigger online community in Killer Instinct in the near future. Have you dipped your toes in this entertaining fighting game yet?

Killer Instinct

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"Killer Instinct is a technically complicated fighter, and it's deep despite the shallow pool of characters."
