Just yesterday we reported on the news that a Guangzhou Charge player claims that his Overwatch League team will take the promised $6 million termination fee at the end of the season offered by Activision Blizzard to teams if they choose to shut down the league once the 2023 championship is wrapped up. Now to add to this, the Charge has announced a slate of team changes, with a player, the assistant coach, and the head coach all leaving the OWL franchise.
Specifically, its Choi "ChoiSehwan" Se-hwan, assistant coach Jung "Tydolla" Seung-min, and head coach Hong "Sungwoo" Sung-woo who are leaving the team, further adding to the claim that the Charge is scaling back its efforts to take the termination fee.
Granted, as the team needs five players to be able to compete, the Charge has signed former Chengdu Hunters player Yi "JinMu" Hu.
With these changes in mind, we'll next get to see the Charge in the Summer Qualifiers, which continue later this week.
