As we were heading into the final week of this year's Esports World Cup, it became immediately clear the Club Championship was a two-horse race between Team Falcons (who had yet to lose a Club Championship) and AG.AL. With this being the case, the Trackmania result ended up having immensely important repercussions.
Set up as one of the final four tournaments at this year's Esports World Cup, the Trackmania event brought together 32 of the best teams from around the globe, and in the end, the glory ended up going to the one organisation who needed it the most.
AG.AL came out on top after their French competitor Gwendal "Gwen" Duparc managed to hold off the competition and win the Grand Final in a rather dominant fashion. Gwen put up 141 points, which was well clear of the competition in the final round of play, as the second best scoring player notched up 115 points.
This result saw AG.AL walking away with $130,000 in prize money, plus the hugely important 1,000 Club Championship points, which were enough to catapult the team to the top of the standings on the final weekend.
