"Team Ninja was actually considering doing a Ninja Gaiden game with zombies before Mr. Inafune came with the idea for Yaiba," says Team Ninja leader Hayashi. "At that point when we were just considering it internally we figured that we didn't have the right ideas or the right skills to make zombie game that zombie fans would enjoy."

The idea was been on hold, but later when Keiji Inafune approached Team Ninja with his idea for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z everything fell into place and the rest is as they say history. Zombies are key to the concept and Inafune, who is known for his work on the Dead Rising franchise, said this of zombies:

"I sort of have my own personal preferences and my own personal feelings about what a zombie should be," says Inafune. "For Yaiba though, I've tried to be a little more open and a little more flexible and approach the zombies in Yaiba with a more open mind. So that there are aspects of these zombies that might not be normal zombies. That you might not expect from a regular zombie, but if it's fun and it sort of works okay, the I'll be okay with it. So as long as it's fun and it's unique it should be okay."

REVIEW. Written by Gillen McAllister

"At its best, it's low-brow gory fun, but in comparison to some of the great games releasing at the moment, it's definitely one of the poorer titles of 2014."
