Golden Eye remake cancelled

James Bond gets the boot
Petter Mårtensson 21 September 2009

Have you been looking forward to the rumored remake of the classic James Bond-game Golden Eye, despite the utter lack of news about the project? Then stop. According to Rare and their official Q&A site Scribles, the XLA-project has been shot down and there seems to be little chance that it will ever see the light of day again.

"Fate was against us that day. Destiny conspired to raise the hurdles even as we attempted to clear them, resulting in unpleasant groinal injury", the company writes. "I suspect we're long past the stage where an agreement was on the cards, but you never know. Stranger things have happened... somewhere... probably."

Groinal injury is never a good thing, but it is a bit sad to see the project go. Luckily we can still look foward to the remake of Perfect Dark. Right?
