Esports event and tournament organiser Faceit has revealed the Faceit Pro Series: Apex Legends, which is the first officially licensed esports series featuring exclusively professional players.
16 of the biggest organisations will be competing in a point-based series across eight tournaments this summer, each of which is worth $5,000 USD. There's an extra $10,000 in a seasonal prize pool up for grabs as well, based on overall scores.
The first event starts at 14:00 PST (22:00 BST, 23:00 CEST) on May 31, with each match day running for four hours. The teams competing are Cloud9, 100 Thieves, TSM, Team Liquid, CLG, Gen.G, Misfits, Immortals, NRG, Complexity, Dignitas, Fnatic, G2, and T1, and at each event one team will compete at the Faceit Studios in LA, while the others take part online via Faceit, with all players streaming on their own channels too.
James Bardolph and Daniel 'DDK' Kapadia will be providing commentary and analysis alongside other talent yet to be announced, with qualifiers running from tomorrow to May 30. This will see 20 teams selected from the Apex Pro Discord competing across 20 matches.
"This is the first event where these titans of the esports industry can really show what their Apex Legends rosters are made of and we're thrilled to play a part in establishing the competitive ecosystem for one of the most exciting titles in the world right now," said Michele Attisani, Co-Founder & CBO of Faceit. "We've created a dynamic setup which will split the broadcast between the teams streaming online and the team and broadcast talent in our studio in Santa Monica for a seamless viewer experience for fans."
