EA details how microtransactions work in Apex Legends

Respawn Entertainment's brand new battle royale game has microtransactions, but they've been quick to detail how they operate.

Thanks, DualShockers.

The battle royale genre is all the rage right now and Respawn Entertainment has launched a Titanfall spin-off title in the space. Apex Legends is battle royale with a twist though, giving players perks in the form of character special abilities and weapons. Apart from these exclusive offensive aspects, Apex Legends makes microtransactions available for players early on, and both EA and Respawn have detailed how these microtransactions will work in the game.

Apex Legends gives players the ability to pay to unlock characters and cosmetics for these characters (or Legends) before they become available for the non-purchasing players. Not exactly pay-to-win, that is, but the ability to pick a character that hasn't been balanced yet may lead to some easy wins for paying players. Speaking of characters, all of them have been given trailers, so you can watch them all in our recent news piece.

That being said, however, there are few reasons to raise any red flags from this information. It's also nice to see that EA has made clear their strategies, given recent incidents and controversies with microtransactions over the last few years.

Are you happy with this strategy?
