Media Molecule isn't quite ready to give us the final version yet, but those of us who want to take part before then will be able to pay for it sooner rather than later.

Many have speculated about how and when Dreams should launch to have the best chance of succeeding. Some suggested having a trial on PlayStation Plus, while others wanted to see the creation and play part separated. Well, the British studio has chosen to go with something PlayStation on paper has tried avoiding for a long time.

We're now told that Dreams will launch as Early Access this spring for €29.99/$29.99. There's a fairly significant caveat for those of us in Europe however, as this version will only be available in the UK, Austria, Benelux, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Spain. Those of you living in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand will also be able to join the fun.

Don't expect to get everything Media Molecule has talked about through the years though, as it's definitely Early Access. Sure, we'll get everything the developers have access to these days, but this version is mostly meant for people who can't wait to create, share and play stuff in the fascinating game and are willing to live with having access to less tools and features than the final version will include.

Fortunately, it does sound like were getting a lot of content for our money. The tutorials have been improved since the beta and the developers have prepared a few of their own games to play, tweak and take inspiration from. All the creations from the betas will also still be there, so maybe some of the new tools will make them even better. Just don't expect a lot more content than what we had in the beta from the get go.

Better is also the keyword for the future. Media Molecule will use this Early Access version to gather even more feedback and use this to add new features, improve the tutorials even further, add new level, give access to new asset and make general refinements as Dreams comes closer to the real launch. Speaking of which, they're still not willing to give us an expected launch window, so it might be well worth jumping in as soon as Dreams Early Access becomes available on the PlayStation Store if you're looking to be one of the first creators to share your creations with the world and inspire others.

Will you buy the Early Access version right away or see what other do with it before jumping in?

REVIEW. Written by Mikael Sundberg

"Art's Dream has been developed within Dreams using the same tools as the players are given, and it's phenomenal."
