Devotion's Chinese publisher gets business license revoked

The announcement comes months after the game was originally removed from Steam following controversy surrounding depictions of Xi Jinping.

Horror game Devotion has had a rather turbulent history. The Taiwanese title upset a fair few Chinese players when artwork appeared in the game mocking Chinese president Xi Jinping, meaning it's been removed from Steam, and now there's more bad news for publisher Indievent.

This news comes courtesy of Iain Garner, co-founder of Another Indie (thanks, PCGamesN), who shared an announcement in Chinese that their business license had been revoked.

As reported by The Guardian in February, Indievent had already cut ties with developer Red Candle Games, but this clearly wasn't enough. Another publisher associated with the game, Winking Entertainment, has escaped such measures since they're based in Taiwan.
