The Overwatch League has wrapped up for yet another year, and following a busy and unusual Playoffs, the Grand Finals that took place on Saturday morning for us in Europe, saw the San Francisco Shock survive the elimination bracket to meet the Dallas Fuel in the last match of the season.

The game ended up being an absolute monster, with both teams trading blows and map wins, seeing it all come down to the seventh and final map: Push on Colosseo. After a gruelling showing, the Fuel managed to hold off the Shock and take the championship and be crowned as Champions for the first time in the franchise's history.

To add to this momentous occasion, just before the Grand Finals started, we were told about the individuals who won the MVP and the Dennis Hawelka Award.

For the MVP, the Shock's Dong-Hyun "Proper" Kim made history by becoming the first player in OWL history to win both the Rookie of the Year award and the Most Valuable Player award. Proper was also credited as a Damage Role Star for the season, and fell one map short of also being a world champion, which would have made for a truly remarkable season.

As for the Dennis Hawelka Award, the London Spitfire's Hadi "Hadi" Bleinagel was credited here, for being a "beacon of positivity for the Overwatch community in its nascent days". Hadi was also recognised for his play by being credited as a Tank Role Star for the season.

As for when the Overwatch League will return in 2023, Blizzard has yet to reveal that information.
