The ESL has announced that later this year, competitive Counter-Strike will be returning to Australia for IEM Sydney 2023. The tournament will be held between October 16-22, and will see the best teams from around the world in attendance and fighting for a share of a $250,000 prize pool.
This will be the first time that Australia has hosted a major CS tournament in over 1,500 days, and as for which game it will be played on, that is still unclear, as Counter-Strike 2 is still set to launch this summer. Perhaps this will be the first event to be played on CS2, or perhaps it will continue to offer action on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for the time being.
Either way, Ozzies will no doubt be ecstatic to hear that CS is heading back down under.
