Video games are prisons, obviously

Via NowGamer and GamePolitics.com come the news that certain members of the Church of England have turned their eyes on video games. In a meeting last Thursday, both the Archbishop of York and former Member of Parliament Tom Benyon talked about games and how they ruined our poor youth.

Benyon mentioned the violence and pornography in "DVD games" and told a tale about a teenager that had terrible nightmares and visions that stayed with him for months. "He was an innocent and he was profoundly shocked. The damage that he suffered was substantial", the former MP said. Then he put video games into the hands of Satan, saying that "I know that the Devil is said to have all the best tunes. Without any question of doubt he has the monopoly of violent and pornographic videogames".

The Archbishop of York followed Benyon and said that "on this great day of celebrating 20 years since Mandela came out of prison, can we help our young people to come out of the prison of these awful, awful videogames."

There's so much I could say about this, but I won't. You know what I am thinking. GamePolitics.com has a link to an audio recording of the full meeting.
