The revelations came yesterday during a livestream with the developers.

As we reported yesterday, Destiny 2's second DLC has been finally revealed by Bungie, requiring a whole hour-long livestream to show fans what Warmind has in store for them, featuring plenty of new content.

Firstly, as planned, the DLC will bring a new zone named Hellas Basin, located at the Mars Pole where the melted ice caps uncovered a time capsule, while Rasputin, the well-known Warmind, wakes up. This new zone also contains a new type of enemy: the 'Frozen Hive', a new faction of the Hive.

Hellas Basin also provides an opportunity to discover a new public activity specific to the DLC called Escalation Protocol. This will be a non-random activity unlike public events, which means that players will be able to trigger it whenever they wish, and the principle here is relatively simple: there are seven levels, each containing three waves of enemies plus a boss, and a boss at the end of each of the seven levels. The seventh level will feature a new boss with a unique mechanic, and there are a total of five final bosses that will rotate each week.

Some gameplay elements are also returning via this event, such as the hive sword that can be used during the activity. However, the rewards are worth the effort for these activities, as each boss will drop a piece of unique equipment, and the event has its own unique weapons with specific strengths and visual designs, reminiscent of the image of Sleeper Simulant, another item from Destiny 1, just like Rasputin who is at the center of the DLC. The expansion should also offer a new raid lair and strikes, although these elements were not mentioned during the stream.

Another point addressed during the broadcast was changes made to the Crucible, the PvP mode in the game, as two ranking systems have been introduced. The first, titled 'Valor Rank', is simply a progression system. Each player will earn points by winning and also by losing, and the figure won't come down, however, when the maximum is reached, it'll be possible to reset it in return for rewards, like with the prestige system in Call of Duty.

The second ranking system is named 'Glory' and only concerns the competitive mode of the Crucible. This is once again a point system, but this time it can increase as well as decrease with bonuses in the event of win streaks and penalties for losing streaks. To top it all off, an exclusive weapon can be claimed by the player having reached a certain rank of Glory at the end of each season. Note also that the two ranking systems will also be available to players who have not purchased Warmind.

Finally, the DLC 2 will also mark the return of the private matches in Destiny, and if you're wondering when you can access all this, the DLC will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 8, so there really isn't that long to wait.
