Trademarks Marathon-name, again

This screenshot might actually be from Marathon 2, I really can't tell the difference anymore.

Eurogamer reports that Bungie, makers of almost all things Halo (not Halo Wars), have filed a new trademark for the name Marathon. Marathon, the original one, was released for the Mac in 1994 and thus actually being older than the average Halo 3-player you'll encounter on Xbox Live. Is the franchise making yet another return?

I guess we might find out at some point, probably after Halo: Reach has been released later this year.
