While Blizzard doesn't seem inclined to tell the world what the future holds for the Overwatch League, the way that teams are wording their end of season statements all seem to suggest that the Overwatch League as we know it will not be back in 2024. There will likely still be organised competitive Overwatch events, and some OWL teams are seemingly sticking around to explore how these will be offered.
The Boston Uprising for one has announced that it has released the majority of its roster, including; Kim "birdring" Ji-hyeok, Shin "Kalios" Wooyul, Lee "LeeJaeGon" Jae-gon, Kim "IZaYaKI" Min-chul, assistant coach Park "KariV" Young-seo, assistant general manager Han "Sup7eme" Seung-jun, and player manager Haeni "Haeni" Kim.
But, despite this being the case, the Uprising has also stated: "We are excited to build off the team's performance this past season, and when more details are known about the 2024 Overwatch competitive season, we will build a roster to take the Uprising to new heights."
The Uprising does also cap off by saying that there is a chance some of the released players will be back and re-signed with the team.
