Blizzard has been very tight-lipped when it comes to talking about the future of the Overwatch League. With the league seeming to be in a bit of turmoil due to its decrease in viewership, and a lot of teams posting rather odd farewell messages following the Playoffs concluding over the weekend, the Californian developer has now finally issued a statement that addresses the future of the OWL.
The message doesn't reveal much at all, but what it does directly not state is that the OWL will be back as we know it next season. Instead, we're promised a "revitalised esports program", which we can expect further details about soon once they are confirmed.
The good news is that we can look forward to further Overwatch 2 esports in the future, but whether that comes in the form of the Overwatch League remains to be seen.
