There are a lot of questions currently surrounding the future of the Overwatch League. With Activision offering a $6 million buyout to each of the teams, many are wondering if the OWL will even be back in 2024.
With this still up in the air, executive producer on Overwatch 2, Jared Neuss, has spoken about the future of competitive Overwatch in a roundtable meeting (thanks, Dexerto).
"One of the things we've been talking about in general, is what is the future of competitive Overwatch? We believe it's a big part of the game, a big part of the community.
"It's extremely important to us that we have a thriving competitive scene and that there is a clear path to pro for players."
This is by no means a confirmation that the OWL will be back, as even if the franchised league is terminated, there will no doubt soon be a replacement, even if this is run by a third-party.
