The 2023 Overwatch League season is approximately halfway through at this point. After a busy opening phase, the East and West divisions just finished colliding at the Midseason Madness tournament in Seoul, South Korea, and despite the event being held in the East's backyard, it was a West team who came out on top.
Because the Atlanta Reign has risen to the cream of the crop and been crowned victor, after defeating fellow West team Houston Outlaws in the grand finale. In fact, the tournament was all West for the most part, as the East teams only managed to defeat the West once, with this being in one of the tournament's opening matches when the Hangzhou Spark overcame the Florida Mayhem. Each time the two regions collided after this the West came out on top, meaning the Spark and the Seoul Infernal never managed to get too close to the finale or had much of a grasp on the trophy.
The next time the East and West collide will be the Playoffs at the end of the season, so hopefully the East are more difficult competition when this time comes around.
