The Danish esports organisation, Astralis has breached the Louvre Agreement and now faces a $100,000 fine. The ESL has announced that Astralis failed to report a conflict of interest back in mid-2021, and now faces the wrath of sanctions for this incident.
The situation involves Astralis receiving services from a future employee between April and July 2021, as this created a conflict of interest since the individual worked for a competing team at the time. As Astralis failed to report this incident to the ESL, it has breached the Louvre Agreement.
Specifically the ruling stated: "Astralis is fined a grand total of USD 100,000 for maintaining and not reporting an existing conflict of interest."
It was noted that a few other breaches were reported, but these were not identified during the investigation process.
