Streaming service Twitch has revealed that they're teaming up with Respawn Entertainment for a new competition called the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge, where 48 streamers will fight it out between February 12 and 19 for $200,000 USD in prizes.

The event will be held in two parts, each on the dates mentioned above, and will feature 16 three-player squads. Each squad will compete for the most points of course, and just like in other battle royale games it's not just about winning, as you'll get five points for each match win and one for each kill.

We already know some big names competing though, as TSM's Fortnite player Ali 'Myth' Kabbani joins Guy 'Dr Disrespect' Beahm and Michael 'Shroud' Grzesiek, with plenty more to be revealed soon.

These streamers will be hosting the action themselves of course, but you can keep up with all the action on the official Twitch Rivals channel.

Are you pleased to see that we're getting an esports competition for Apex Legends so early on in its life?

"The mix of weapons, the revive mechanic, the excellent design of the map, the fluidity of the controls, and the stellar gunplay all combine to make a slick first-person experience."
