After carving out an important place in the games industry, Activision Blizzard is aiming in a different direction and is looking to enter the world of cinema. Naturally this focus includes the company's most popular franchise, Call of Duty. According to The Guardian, the publisher would be interested in creating a cinematic universe, in a manner similar to what we've seen with Marvel and Disney.

According to The Guardian, the two Presidents of Activision Blizzard Studios, Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk, are already working to make sure they create quality movies based on their games, and naturally their aim is for them to be well received by both the public and critics alike. Of course, that's easier said than done.

Work has already started on the project and there are already several screenplays in the works, and these work-in-progress scripts have also seen involvement from military experts and former soldiers as they aim for authenticity. The good news is that these movies won't be simple adaptations of the Call of Duty games; they will in fact be brand new stories.

The first Call of Duty movie is expected in 2018, while the subsequent films to be released in the years thereafter.
