It has been a whirlwind of events for M80 over this past weekend, as the team announced its Overwatch 2 roster, then had to disband that very roster, all before announcing an entirely separate and different team instead. As per why this happened, some of the members of the originally announced team were soon discovered to allegedly have sent racist messages in a Discord server, leading M80 to quickly cut ties with them.
Following up to this, the organisation stated, "We faced unexpected challenges as two key members of our newly signed Overwatch team departed/were released. We aimed to build a cohesive unit, but circumstances led us to reassess our path.
"Rather than replacing the team with players committed elsewhere, we've decided it's best for all parties to part ways. We release our remaining players to pursue new opportunities and compete in the OWCS and wish these players nothing but success."
Since then, the new team has been affirmed, with this including; Isaiah "Hydron" Rodriguez, Go "Spectra" Dong-woo, Oh "Pelican" Se-hyun, Xander "Hawk" Domecq, Joseph "Lep" Cambriani, Benjamin "UltraViolet" David, Steven "Renko" Saucedo, head coach Blake "Gator" Scott, and manager Owen "Urzo" Macgowan.
