Apex Legends revenue falls 78% in two months

Viewership is also down, although Season 2 of the Battle Pass is coming next month to try and spice things up a bit.

Apex Legends had a great start in life, with Respawn using streamers to generate attention to this new first-person battle royale experience, but now a new report from SuperData indicates that revenue has continued to decline for the game, as reported by Eurogamer.

In the month of April the game generated $24 million USD, which marks the second month in a row that it's declined. Monthly revenue is now at just over a quarter of launch month sales in February, so in other words, in two months revenue has fallen by 74%.

Viewership is also down, as shown by TwitchTracker figures. Just yesterday the game charted 23,906 viewers, which is significantly down on the peak of just over 278,000. Of course few expected the boom to last forever, but it's part of a downward trend that has been going since February.

With Fortnite still immensely popular and others like PUBG and Call of Duty's Blackout mode also turning heads, Apex Legends needs to ensure it stays fresh in this market, and the next Battle Pass will be important for them. People found the first to be a bit lackluster after a period without any Battle Pass at all, so it'll be interesting to see what happens with the next season, coming next month.
