Bungie is talking about the future of Destiny 2

Season of the Forge has arrived.
Stefan Briesenick 28 November 2018

Bungie kicked off the Black Armory season in Destiny 2 yesterday and took the opportunity to talk about the things that Guardians will be doing until next autumn in a detailed developer's diary. Here are the main talking points:

To keep players engaged and make sure that they return to Destiny 2, Bungie wants to provide content for three more seasons, which should last for about a year. Regular updates will unlock new secrets, missions and weapons. Each season will be dedicated to an overall theme, raising the maximum power level for Forsaken owners by 50 levels.

Season of the Forge will extend into February and provide various activities and new equipment. In their video primer, Bungie confirmed five new exotic items, including four new weapons (and one old favourite). Furthermore, there will be new weapon mods (perks) that will grant players more variety in customising their weapon loadouts, and much more.

The new season is set to begin on December 4 for those who have the annual pass. The story revolves around the gunsmiths who successfully protected their secrets from the vanguard since the Golden Age. Unfortunately, even these capable fighters have lost some knowledge over the years - which brings us into play. Our task is to conquer the abandoned forges, to bring them back to life, and then make use of their ancient technology.

Forges will be a new matchmaking activity for three players that will bring us together with two fellow Guardians (or with the members of our own fireteam), and while we are fending off waves of enemies, we'll have to gather weapons components.

There's also a new raid starting on December 7, and this year's seasonal event - the Dawning - is set to launch for one and all on December 11. Check the schedules above and below for more details on when the different events kick off and who'll have access to them.
