Yesterday, the PC version of Destiny 2 released, and despite being a joyous occasion for those who've been waiting patiently to play Bungie's ambitious sequel on PC, a situation quickly escalated where tons of players were banned for using third-party applications.
Players were quick to declare their innocence, but now Bungie has responded in an official blog post. They've announced that 400 players were banned yesterday, and every case was a result a manual investigation by Bungie, and not an automated process. Furthermore, bans were issued to players who were using "tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game".
Lastly, Bungie confirms that none of the bans were issued to players who were using software like Discord, Xsplit, OBS, and RTSS, as some were reporting. For more on the game though, check out our PC Impressions, and our PC livestream replay down below. Have you found any issues with the game?
Update: Bungie has since updated the post to say that "as part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game."
